Is Marvel Rivals crossplay or cross-platform?

Marvel Rivals is looking to be the Iron Man of the first-person shooter genre, and to present an incredibly hulking presence, the addition of crossplay and cross-progression would be heroic—and we’ve got the details you need on these features.

Crossplay has become an integral part of modern gaming, particularly for online-only games like Marvel Rivals, but there has been issues in the past that other games have encountered when offering this feature. Therefore, it’s not guaranteed.

It’s a similar situation with cross-platform, allowing players the opportunity to play without losing any progress on any platform. If you want to know all the details about both features and whether they’re available in Marvel Rivals, look no further.

Yes, Marvel Rivals offers crossplay. However, it varies on your platform and the game mode you are play—as PC players cannot crossplay with those on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 in the Competitive Mode.

In Competitive Mode, PC players will only be able to play with other PC gamers, while those on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 can play together. Though this may be a frustrating development for those wanting to play with friends on other platforms, it’s a situation that should be understood—particularly given the attention on social media that Black Ops 6 has attracted in ranked mode from cheaters.

The good news, however, is that the door is not shut on crossplay entirely as PC players can play together with Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 players in Quick Match, Conquest, Custom Games, and the Practice vs AI modes.

Does Marvel Rivals support cross-platform progression?

Marvel Rivals is not expected to launch with cross-platform progression enabled. However, the feature is likely to come further down the game’s lifespan—although no dates for the release of such a feature have been shared.

Speaking to TheGamer at Tokyo Game Show in Oct. 2024, game director Guangyun Chen confirmed there is “no cross-progression,” with a “final tech check” on the cards before such a feature is implemented and admitting “the workload is a lot more than we thought at the beginning.”

Chen followed up those comments by stating that “internal discussions” are taking place and they’re “not sure when we’ll be announcing our decision.” We’ll update this article accordingly if any updates are shared.
