Just days after lawsuit, Palworld surprise drops on PlayStation

Palworld has just announced it’s expanding to the PlayStation 5 mere days after Nintendo openly pursued legal action against the open-world survival game.

The survival game, developed by Pocketpair, launched to huge success when it was first released. After several expansions and the reveal of a PS5 version, it looks like the developers of Palworld will not be slowing down despite the recent lawsuit filed by Nintendo.

This reveal marks the developer’s first update to the game after they responded to the lawsuit on the 19th. While there aren’t any new pals to fight or areas to explore, all of the content already in the game is now readily available for PS5 players.

The game, which was intitially released on PC and Xbox systems back in January, inspired many controversies surrounding AI and how similar Pals look compared to Pokémon. While a recent update to the game made it seem like the developers were finally in the clear, Nintendo came in swinging by filing a massive infringement lawsuit.

Despite the onset of the lawsuit, fans are still pleased that the developers are focused on updating and releasing Palworld for all consoles and systems. One player on X (formerly Twitter) commented that this announcement was, “absolutely shocking,” due to how fresh the lawsuit is, but that they are, “Definetly downloading today!” Another user posted memes about the lawsuit, implying that the developers are still acting like everything is business as usual.

While Pocketpair has responded to the lawsuit, it’s unknown if the case will be settled inside or out of court. Until then, PlayStation gamers can finally befriend their own Pals and look forward to future updates.
