Marvel Snap Aug. 20 patch notes – Location changes and more

A new Marvel Snap update is now live for download on all platforms, and it’s full of genuinely positive changes.

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve said out loud “please, let me play my deck” while playing Marvel Snap. And it appears that Second Dinner was listening because a handful of the game’s most annoying locations are changing in today’s update.

Here are the patch notes for Marvel Snap’s Aug. 20 update.

The main changes in this update are focused on locations within the game, including several very annoying ones that players universally dislike, such as Lamentis-1 and The Peak. Both have been outright removed from the game temporarily.

“Data indicated that many players deeply disliked the experiences these locations created, even at fairly low frequency,” Second Dinner said. “So, we’ve decided to take them offline while we workshop changes.”

District X, meanwhile, will no longer appear for “the majority of players, but will still show up for those early in their Marvel Snap journeys” because “many experienced players found it frustrating not to play with the decks they’d constructed, but many players who were still in the midst of discovering cards found it fun and exciting to have a window into playing with ones they don’t have.”

Two locations were redesigned in the patch, as well, in Weirdworld and Sandbar. Weirdworld will now draw two cards from your opponent’s deck as opposed to drawing from it for the whole game, while Sandbar has been reworked to now say “cards that didn’t start in your deck cost one more (max six).”

“We removed Sandbar a while back because the set of cards it interacted with was too narrow, leaving it not all that fun or interesting to play with,” Second Dinner said. “Now we’ve found it a new niche. We like to have locations in the pool that throw a wrench in various decks’ game plans that they have to maneuver around.”

Outside of some minor text changes to a handful of cards, the update also includes new improvements for card finishes, a rotating cosmetic section in the shop, improvements for custom cards, and improvements for Alliances.

The full patch notes can currently be found on the game’s official Discord server.
