NICKMERCS claims he didn’t know transgender slur was derogatory until he got banned on Twitch

NICKMERCS claimed he didn’t know the transgender slur he recently used on social media was derogatory until he was banned, he said in his return to streaming after a week-long Twitch ban.

The streamer returned on July 7 for the first time since his June 28 ban and was quick to address what had happened, in his own words, shortly after he went live. But he did not seem to show much remorse or regret about the situation.

“I can’t say the word that I had said on Twitch,” the streamer said, laughing. “Because it’s considered derogatory, it’s like a bad word. All I wanna say, I did not know that that was a derogatory word. I didn’t. You could think that I did, but I swear to god on mom’s life, on everybody that I love, on myself, I did not know that that was derogatory.”

He continued, admitting that “we weren’t saying a lot of very positive things” about the transgender community during that stream, but he “didn’t fuckin’ know” and “they (presumably Twitch personnel) were saying it’s like saying the N-word” so “they canned my ass for a week.”

“To be honest, it was good timing, I was going to Vegas and when I came back it was July 4th and I had family in town,” he said. “So, not all bad, it’s OK. I’ll take my ban to the chest, I understand there’s rules and you can’t break ’em or you gotta pay the price, and there you go man.”

When a viewer asked if the streamer had thought about what it would be like to be permanently banned, NICKMERCS said he would be OK because he’s made “so much bread from this shit” and “I’ve made so much money.”

“I stand by everything I said,” the streamer said to close out the discussion, now armed with the knowledge that the slur is derogatory.
