Pokimane has broken one of her longest-standing streaming rules, casually opening up to her Twitch fans about a breakup she’s currently going through.
Imane Anys, a.k.a. Pokimane, is one of the biggest streamers and internet personalities in the world. She’s acutely aware of the fact much of her life is in the public eye. Fans and media outlets alike tend to speculate on aspects she prefers to keep private. Because of this, she usually refrains from talking about her relationships—for the most part.
Recently, Pokimane has made changes to her relationship with the internet and her fans. She started talking more about her life and the lessons she’s learned on her podcast, Don’t Tell Anyone. As the podcast grows in its following and Pokimane adjusts to the format, she has become more comfortable with vulnerability online.
In her newest video today, Pokimane followed that trend by discussing her breakup. Although she doesn’t state the exact reason, she mentions that this one feels different. She suggests that she was talking about marriage, and potentially even children, with this person (largely speculated to be Kevin Kim). Imane followed up offering comfort to anyone else who is going through a similar situation, letting viewers know they’re “not alone.”
What’s next for Pokimane?
In the video, Imane suggested she’s becoming “more interested in coming out of her shell.” When figures like herself are as popular as they are, she explained, privacy becomes a luxury, and she wanted to indulge in that aspect of life for a little bit longer.
Pokimane hinted that she may be entering a new stage in her life. Furthermore, she shows viewers around her new apartment, and discusses workouts, habits, and learning the Levantine Arabic dialect. After this, Imane talked about her PCOS diagnosis, and what adjusting to life with that knowledge has been like.
As for streaming, it looks like Pokimane may be back streaming casually soon. She’s found a “perfect middle ground,” she explained, and that means she can work her other habits around being back on Twitch more permanently soon.
Outside that, she appears to be slowly settling into single life again—though that may take the Twitch superstar some time considering how serious things were.
