Every so often, Niantic likes to throw a curveball into its Special Research tasks, and with the new Max Out season, Pokémon Go trainers are once again left to scratch their heads on a branching choice.
The choice becomes available from the second part of the research tasks, asking you to choose from three options: Adventure with Grookey, Adventure with Scorbunny, or Adventure with Sobble.
There are slight differences depending on which Pokémon you choose here, outside of the usual differences in the Galar Calling Research questline, so pick the one that suits you best.
Is it better to go with Adventure with Grookey, Scorbunny, or Sobble in Galar Calling in Pokémon Go?
It mostly comes down to personal choice, but depending on which starter you choose, the research will branch out into three tasks based on these Pokémon in Pokémon Go.
Right off the bat, your choice determines which Galar Starter Pokémon you’re given with a unique background. So, if you want a Scorbunny with a unique background postcard behind it, choose Scorbunny as an example. Grookey’s background is floral themed, Sobble’s is striped, and Scorbunny’s is a bit more quirky, as shared by PoGOCentral on X (formerly Twitter).
The tasks you take part in are also themed around those Pokémon, so if you chose Sobble in the second part of the questline, you’ll need to evolve Sobble in the next one to continue your tasks.
Realistically, though, there are no major advantages of one over the other, and the special background is the only real thing that makes this unique. They all can’t be Shiny, and the questline is nearly identical with its rewards outside of changing which Pokémon you need to focus on.
I went for Scorbunny myself as it was my favorite Starter Pokémon and the idea of having a unique background Cinderace was too good to pass up. But when I think about the upcoming Max Battles, and how there might be a Gigantamax Cinderace on the horizon, it makes me wonder if I want two special Scorbunny in my party throughout the season…
What am I saying? Of course, I do!
