These forgotten Starters still need 7-star Tera Raids in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

With Serperior the next seven-star raid boss for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet Tera Raids, just three more non-Paldean Starters are still in the running for the next few Unrivaled events.

Seven-star Serperior Tera Raids are set to appear in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet starting Sept. 20 to 22 and again from Sept. 27 until 29, according to Serebii. It’ll have the Grass Tera Type to give it an extra boost to its Grass-type attacks and there’s a high possibility of it running its Hidden Ability, Contrary. In other words, the serpent’s strategy might be to spam powerful Leaf Storms while boosting its Special Attack each time. As usual, we won’t know the full details until the event begins, but it sounds like another battle that can quickly get out of hand, like Incineroar’s raid.

Raid battle aside, some Pokémon players wonder if the Serperior announcement could have hidden meaning behind it. After Serperior, there are only a few other Starters that have yet to be seven-star raid bosses in the Gen IX games (excluding the Paldean Starters). Interestingly enough, we have one Water, one Grass, and one Fire Starter remaining: Feraligatr, Torterra, and Infernape. And with the Legends: Z-A Starters still unannounced, some fans theorize these last three Starters could be potential candidates for the upcoming game.

Other players, however, believe the theory is disproved by the fact Torterra and Infernape come from the same generation. Technically, there are no rules for the Z-A Starters, but it would make sense for them to all come from different generations (like in Legends: Arceus) or all be from the Kalos region where Z-A takes place. So, perhaps these last few Starter Tera Raid events actually have nothing to do with Z-A and we’re just overanalyzing the situation.

To be fair, we still haven’t had any update or additional trailer since the game’s initial reveal, and we’re just eager to learn any new details about it. If the Starter trio were to be revealed, for example, that would give us a little more to work with when it comes to theorizing possible regional variants or Mega Evolutions. And the thought of that is quite exciting.

Until then, fans will be keeping an eye out for any potential signs or hints of what’s to come in Z-A.
