Pokémon Scarlet and Violet seven-star Tera Raids have finally cycled over to Incineroar, and the Gen VII Fire Starter is ready to take on anyone who challenges it.
Special Incineroar Tera Raids will appear in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet from Thursday, Sept. 5 at 7pm CT to Sunday, Sept. 8 at 6:59pm CT and again from Thursday, Sept. 12 at 7pm CT until Sunday, Sept. 15 at 6:59pm CT. In these seven-star raids, Incineroar will have the Dark Tera Type and exclusive Mightiest Mark, making it a valuable and rare ‘mon to get your hands on.
How to find Unrivaled Incineroar Tera Raids in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet
The Unrivaled Incineroar Tera Raids will only appear on your map if you’ve unlocked seven-star Tera Raids. Once you’ve reached that point in the Scarlet and Violet story, follow these steps to challenge Unrivaled Incineroar:
- During the event period, connect to the internet and update Poké Portal News.
- Open your Paldea map and look for a black Tera Raid icon with the Dark Tera Type symbol. Select that as your destination.
- Fly to the nearest Pokémon Center or map landmark and then follow the orange flag on your mini map until you reach your destination.
- Interact with the black crystal; make sure it’s a seven-star raid with Incineroar’s silhouette.
- You can also use the Tera Raid Battle Search feature in the Poké Portal to join online group raids, but this option requires a Switch Online membership.
How to catch Incineroar in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet
Incineroar’s availability in Scarlet and Violet isn’t exclusive to the Unrivaled Tera Raid event as it can be obtained in a few different ways.
The easiest way to get your hands on Incineroar is to catch its first pre-evolution, Litten, in the wild. As long as you have The Indigo Disk DLC, you can find wild Litten in Canyon Biome of the Terarium after upgrading the area. Simply catch a Litten and then evolve it into Torracat and Incineroar. If you don’t have the DLC, you can trade with a fellow player for an Incineroar or transfer one from another game via Pokémon HOME.
Now, if you want to catch the Incineroar with the Mightiest Mark, you must beat it in the seven-star raid while the Unrivaled event is around. Since it has the Dark Tera Type, consider bringing a counter with access to strong Fighting, Fairy, or Bug-type attacks to help you succeed.
Can you catch more than one Incineroar in the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet Unrivaled Tera Raid event?
All players are limited to catching one Incineroar with the Mightiest Mark from the Unrivaled Tera Raid event. Once you catch that specific Incineroar, you can still challenge the raid again to farm the rewards, but you won’t be able to throw another Poké Ball.
If you need an additional Incineroar (without the Mightiest Mark), search for a wild encounter in the Terarium, trade with a friend, or transfer the cat over from another game.
What is the best Nature for Litten, Torracat, and Incineroar in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet?
Incineroar’s highly regarded as one of the best Pokémon in competitive VGC, but that’s because of its utility rather than its damage. Therefore, its Nature should ideally focus on its Defense or Special Defense instead of its Attack. Incineroar’s two best options are Careful (+ Special Defense, – Special Attack) and Impish (+ Defense, – Special Attack). Between the two, it just depends on whether you want more physical bulk or special bulk, but both are solid.
By making Incineroar bulkier with a Careful or Impish nature, it’ll be able to do its job of pivoting in and out of the field and tanking hits when necessary. The bulk allows it to cycle in multiple Intimidates and Parting Shots for stat drops and Fake Outs for flinches. With Incineroar being a bulky menace, the rest of your Scarlet and Violet team is set up for success to go on the offense and dish out damage.
